Pretoria, 3 August 2017: Plus-Fab is embracing the spirit of the 2017 SPAR Women’s Challenge by putting the concept of being #BetterTogether into action!
The 2017 SPAR Women’s Challenge theme is ‘#BetterTogether – a theme that encourages every race entrant to unite as we can make a real change to our community and those around us when we work together towards a common goal. Plus-Fab has embraced this message and have entered a team of ladies into this year’s race to show that positive body image is an issue that cannot be taken on alone.
Plus Fab is a body positive online clothing store offering stylish clothing to plus size. Plus-Fab is geared towards the fashion savvy, modern day plus size woman who is looking for plus size fashion for women that not only fits but accentuate her curves. Their range of clothing is designed to embrace rather than cover up a woman’s curves. The Plus-Fab motto is ‘not just the right size’ and their goal is to bring out the fashionista in every plus size woman. They have dressed numerous well known celebrities including 3 Talk’s Noeleen Maholowna-Sanqu, Metro FM’s Criselda Kananda, and Radio and TV Personality Anele Mdoda.
Plus-Fab was founded by passionate businesswoman, Ouma Tema. Tema says that shopping used to be a nightmare for her as none of the clothes she liked were available in her size. She started making her own clothes sharing them on social media. Soon friends and fellow plus size ladies were dying to know where she got her the clothes from. She saw the gap in the market and launched Plus-Fab with the mission of challenging the stereotype concept that curves have no place in the fashion industry.
Tema says that she decided to enter her team into the Pretoria SPAR Women’s Challenge race because she sees it as an opportunity to take part in something that empowers all women – and because the race has an inclusive culture that welcomes ladies of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. “Our fitness levels might not be the same but we always keep going and aim to stay fabulous and healthy,” says Tema. “There are eight of us taking part in total and our goal is to have fun and encourage a healthy lifestyle for everyone no matter what size they are.”
Tema says that what she is most looking forward to on race day is networking, socialising and promoting positive messages in the name of fitness, fabulousity and femininity. “What makes this race so exciting is the fact that it is all about women coming together in pursuit of creating awareness and sending messages to the whole country. One of the most important messages being that better together means no one is alone. You can rely on a sister and for us this also means an investment in sisterhood and forever empowering each other.”
